Hi Liam, thanks for your response. You are wrong about newfrontiers insisting upon Calvinism though. In my church, the senior pastor and several of the elders hold to an Arminian perspective.

As a thinking Arminian, I think I can understand how Mark and Terry have gravitated towards Calvinism. They want to love God with all their minds, and most of the academic literature is pervaded by Calvinism. Two web sites that have strengthened my Arminian position in particular are: www.evangelicalarminians.org and http://crivoice.org/arminianism.html.

As I understand it, New Frontiers congregations take prospective members through the five signature doctrines of Calvinism and insist on them signing a contract with the church. But by insisting on Calvinism rather than evangelical unity, surely this grieves the Holy Spirit, and oppresses sincere Arminians, for whom Christ also died.

Dave Coffey's new book 'All One in Christ Jesus: A Passionate Appeal for Evangelical Unity' is fantastic reading. Highly recommended.
